The second-hand marketplace Members Share Displeasure Over Size Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
The popular resale platform has updated its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Digital Channels Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers are posting online claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category than originally posted due to the recalibration.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with other platforms.
The platform has recommended to review their products and update the measurements by hand when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.
Measurement Approach Changes
Previously, the sizes had both one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Another user, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she stated.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Platform Context
The service features exceeding 100 million members, with 18 million British users.
It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
